The Official End of Summer

This season always reminds me of the importance of the basic skills we use almost everyday. With the events of returning back to school, whether locally or long distance, meeting new teachers, classmates, roommates, teammates and parents - we must start with what I love about manners - meeting new people.  This act is so simple yet full of adventure, excitement, fear and satisfaction that it is over quickly. I love the word "hello", saying my name with the hope that it is said and spelled correctly. It is with great joy having eye to eye contact, seeing beyond the body language and then the handshake. All of these acts are just amazing! We should all go out of our way to introduce ourselves, have great eye to eye contact and then enjoy the touch of the handshake.
